FREE ME TO LIVE TRAINING

This course is designed to provide Crisis Pregnancy Center personnel with an overview of the volunteer leaders of post abortion recovery. Topics include information security, copyright and trademark laws, and social issues relating to post abortion recovery including privacy, confidentiality and liability risks, the attitudes of "victims" and the key factors needed to realized and used by a post abortion course leader.

The purpose of the course is to prepare Crisis Pregnancy Center personnel for helping the woman, friends, relatives, or male partner to overcome their past hurts created by or related to abortion. if they arise. This is a foundation course that should be taken by all Crisis Pregnancy Center personnel. Any individual whose job functions include dealing with a woman suffering from a past abortion, considering abortion, or seeking support, or for the center administrator responsible for the upkeep and administration of a recovery outreach should take this course. This course is also highly relevant to individuals working in or training for opportunities in the post abortion recovery support field. Since this is a foundation-level course, any course taken afterward will suffice.

Outline
Week 1: Introduction to Free Me to Live
  • Explain how to get started as a peer-level recovery facilitator
  • Explain how to discover your calling from God to help others
  • Describe the challenges of organizing, administering, and conducting a course to address deep emotionalissues
  • Discuss who should help, why you are able to help, and what you will need to be able to be effective in a Christian recovery group setting
  • Explain the distinction between a the role of discernment in your postiion as facilitator.
Week 2: Basics of Biblical Care Leadership
  • Keys for success as a recovery leader (Facilitator)
  • Other considerations for small group leadership
  • Small group guidelines help reduce problems
  • Small group rules
  • Do's and Don'ts of small group recovery
  • Solutions for risistance to recovery
  • Key issues to be understood by the group participants
Week 3: Understanding the Recovery Client
  • Explain the types of hurts that are commonly presented to a recovery support group.
  • Explain the in depth hurts created by abortion
  • Explain the nature of violation issue hurts such as abuse, rape, and incest
  • Address additional life-dominating issues that you might see in a Free Me to Live support group
  • Present a summarization of all of life's hurts
  • Descibe the common characteristics of a hurting individual
Week 4: The Course - Part I
  • Describe how FREE ME TO LIVE helps the hurting individual
  • Explain why it works for men and women alike
Week 5: The Course Overview - Part I
  • Explain the flow of the course content as it applies to the process of recovery.
  • Getting to the root of the person's life dominating problems
  • How to use art effectively during a small group
  • Describe the process of building up the person's heart to be able to act in obedience to God's will for their life.
  • Explain the memorial service and its role in helping the individual grieve their losses.
  • Ideas for helping the participant move on to the next level of healing after Free Me to Live.
Week 5: The Course- Part II
  • Explain the use of Anger stones and Bitterness Bag.
  • Explain the use of Hidden Shame Balloons
  • Explain the Memorial for the Unborn.
  • Discuss closing the support with a challenge to stay involved.
  • Ideas for fellowsip and growth after a FREE ME TO LIVE support group.
Week 6: Group Planning and Promoting your Group

Week 7: Group Planning and Promoting your Group

Prerequisites
A basic understanding of the need for post abortion counseling.
